The Reiki Box - A Tool For Healing

What is a Reiki Box? Simply put, a Reiki Box is a tool that any Reiki Level II Practitioner (or above) can use to send Healing Reiki Energy to multiple recipients at the same time, to a single recipient for an extended period of time, or both.
The technique is relatively simple, and involves a logical extension of the "distance" symbol. When you were attuned to Level II, you were taught that this symbol enables the transmission of Reiki Energy over vast distances. Reiki, in fact, has no limits whatsoever, except those we place upon it by our own limiting attitudes and beliefs. It has been said that Reiki is a great ocean of Healing Love that surrounds, connects and nurtures all living things, wherever they may be. Hold that thought as we consider our Reiki Box.
The Reiki Box itself can be any kind of box... or even a simple envelope if your circumstances are such that you can't use a traditional box. Reiki is above ego, you see, and works just as well in an old shoebox as it will in a solid gold treasure chest. The only restriction is that you'll want to set this container aside for Reiki healing use only, because sooner or later you'll find it counterproductive to have to keep moving extraneous items in and out of your Reiki Box.
Once you've selected your container, you may want to "prepare" it in some way, perhaps even cleansing or blessing it. There's nothing wrong with this at all, and the ways of making the Reiki Box even more special are as varied as there are Traditions to base them on.
Those on the Native American path can "smudge" their box with a sage bundle; those on the Wiccan path may choose to sanctify their box in the light of the full or new moon using a ritual familiar to them. Perhaps you're not on any special path at all, but are handy with arts and crafts, and decide to paint or otherwise decorate your box. The point is, anything goes, and whatever you do to make your Reiki Box a little more special to you will be time well spent. We just seem to focus better on things that we consider to be "our own."
Now that we have our Reiki Box the way we want it, it's time to put it to use. This method uses the "Proxy" technique of distance healing. A Proxy is, of course, anything one uses as a substitute or "symbolic representation" of the person or situation to be treated with Reiki. Most of you were probably taught to use a doll or stuffed teddy bear as a Proxy for distance work, but obviously (unless your Box is VERY big) this type of Proxy won't work well for our purposes. Thankfully, we have alternatives available to us.
Basically, anything can serve as a Proxy for Reiki, and for this application I've found that photographs work best. They don't take up a lot of room, and they are easy for most people to focus on. Of course, if you don't have a suitable photo available, or photographs aren't practical for other reasons, a simple slip of paper with a name or brief description of the situation written on it will work just as well. You can even use personal objects like jewelry or clothing. Just choose something that will have meaning for you.
Your first step will be to charge the box with Reiki, using whichever symbols and techniques were taught to you at the time of your attunements. If you weren't given such information, then just hold the box between your hands and using the "power up" symbol, feel the Reiki energy as it flows through the box. Intend that the box shall become a storage vessel for Reiki, and that only the highest good will flow out from the box to those persons and situations that are represented within in the form of Proxies.
Next, set the box aside and pick up the first Proxy. Hold it between your hands in the Gassho position. If you weren't taught the Usui Gassho Meditation, just hold your hands together, at about chest level, in the traditional position of prayer. With the Proxy now sandwiched between your hands use the first three Reiki symbols, in order, to charge the Proxy and intend that healing energy will flow to the target of the Proxy, no matter where they may be. If your target is a situation, remember that Reiki exists beyond time and space. You can Reiki past as well as future situations quite effectively.
Spend a minute or two doing this, and then lovingly place the Proxy into the Reiki Box. Repeat the above procedure for each Proxy you'd like to add, and then close the box when you have finished.
Finally, "seal" the box by using the first three symbols again, and this time use the "distance" symbol to send Healing Reiki Energy to everyone and everything that's inside the box. Then set the Reiki Box aside someplace where it will be out of the way, and let it work. Reiki will continue to flow into the box and then out to the Proxies, like current through a battery, until you once again open the Reiki Box.
While no one knows for sure just how long this technique will continue to work unsupervised, it's probably a good idea to "recharge" the Reiki Box at least once daily. This reaffirms your intent to heal, and keeps the healing process vital and alive for you. At the end of one week you should reopen your box and go through your Proxies one by one to determine if the need still exists to Reiki that particular person or situation. Then, after adding any additional Proxies you may have, or removing any that have expired, reseal the Reiki Box and charge it up again for the coming week.
Over time, you'll find that your Reiki Box has become a powerful tool for healing. It's important to remember the power of our intent, and whatever we intend with a pure heart does indeed come to pass. Anything that we put into such a sacred vessel cannot help being changed for the better by it, so don't be afraid to experiment. You have nothing to lose, and a better world for all to gain. Remember that whatever you do for the least among us, you do for us all. So Reiki everything... it's the best advice a Master ever gave me (thanks Terri!) and now I pass that advice on to you.
Love, Healing & Light.
